Description:


We are seeking an experienced sales professional to grow BASF’s presence in the chemical industry market. As an Account Manager, you will be focused on selling surfactants & raw materials to resin manufacturers and dispersion houses as well as bringing on new customers in this space. This position is ideal for someone that understands the chemical manufacturing industry and is familiar with selling surfactants, polymers, methane sulfonic acid, and chelates along with other key chemistries. You’ll be responsible for executing contracts, building relationships within the customer base, and driving profitability for BASF. This role is remote and can be located anywhere in the continental US, with proximity to a major airport. Ideal candidate location would be East Coast or Midwest US.

  • Serving as the primary point of contact for assigned customers and building strong, long-term relationships
  • Growing market share in the chemical industry by achieving or exceeding volume, revenue, and margin targets
  • Hunting for new business within existing and prospect accounts and establishing multi-level customer relationships while monitoring competitive activity
  • Identifying and securing new opportunities by collaborating on projects with diverse stakeholders, including R&D and Purchasing teams
  • Negotiating pricing and contract terms to deliver favorable commercial outcomes
  • Overseeing sales contracts and agreements, including management of pricing, payment terms, and rebate structures
  • Developing and executing strategic account plans aligned with customer needs and BASF business objectives
  • Conducting frequent in-person visits to customers with an expectation of up to 50% overnight travel
     

If you...
 

  • Earned a bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or business.
  • Possess 5+ years’ experience in account management, sales, or related customer facing experience.
  • Bring deep understanding of the Chemical Manufacturing industry, its markets, and value chain.
  • Have a proven hunter mindset with strong commercial and sales acumen
  • Have demonstrated expertise in pricing, margin management, and contract negotiations
  • Are a strategic thinker focused on results and have the ability to identify new business opportunities.
  • Possess excellent communication, influencing, and presentation skills.
  • Have strong organizational skills and ability to analyze data and industry trends
