Accounting Manager

 

Description:

JCW is currently partnered with a property & casualty insurer looking to bring someone into their growing finance function. This role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, maintaining compliance with statutory and GAAP requirements, and supporting the monthly close and audit processes. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in insurance accounting, leadership capabilities, and a proactive mindset.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee general ledger activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close processes
  • Prepare and review financial statements in compliance with GAAP and statutory accounting principles
  • Manage premium accounting, claims reserves, reinsurance accounting, and other P&C-specific financial processes
  • Coordinate with actuarial, underwriting, claims, and compliance teams to ensure accurate financial data
  • Lead and mentor junior accounting staff; review work for accuracy and consistency
  • Assist in preparing quarterly and annual NAIC statutory filings

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a P&C insurance company
  • Experience with general ledger systems (e.g., Oracle, Workday, QuickBooks, or similar); advanced Excel skills required
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
  • Experience with regulatory reporting (NAIC filings) is highly desirable
