Austin Community College (ACC), a leading two-year public institution serving a diverse student population of over 41,000 learners each semester, is seeking Adjunct Faculty for Integrated Reading & Writing (INRW). Prepare and teach Integrated Reading and Writing (INRW) and co-requisite courses to a multicultural student body using engaging and effective instructional strategies.
Develop lesson plans and materials that align with department learning outcomes and student success goals.
Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback in a timely manner.
Remain current in teaching methodologies, technology tools, and literacy education trends.
Maintain compliance with ACC’s academic policies, professional standards, and submission deadlines (attendance certification, grading, etc.).
Hold regular office hours to support students and enhance retention and achievement.
Collaborate with faculty, staff, and college leadership to promote student learning and success.
Use the Blackboard Learning Management System (LMS) to manage course content, assignments, and communication.
Model respectful communication and collegiality within the academic community.
Adhere to college deadlines and administrative procedures.
Uphold standards of academic integrity and excellence.
Maintain professionalism in teaching, mentoring, and all forms of student interaction.
Minimum Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Reading, Writing, English, Language Arts, or Curriculum and Instruction, including:
At least 3 graduate hours in Reading
3 graduate hours in Writing
3 graduate hours in an education course focusing on adult learners
Preferred Education:
Master’s degree in Reading, Developmental Education, Literacy, or English with at least 3 graduate hours each in Reading and Writing, or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in Reading/Writing combined.
Technology Proficiency:
Skilled in educational technologies and online platforms.
Experience using Blackboard or other LMS tools for course management.
Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office or Google Suite.
On-site teaching environment (classroom/lab).
Requires standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods.
Expected to adhere to college safety standards and report unsafe conditions.
