Description:

  • Duties described below are at the full-performance level. Duties assigned at a lower grade level will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee.
  • Ensure system safety and all system elements perform properly and prevent loss of life/systems; develop hazard management products and hazard management techniques and determine the adequacy of hazard analyses through final hazard closeout.
  • Provide in-line support for system safety, hazard management/hazard analysis, and flight-safety to aerospace flight projects in support of major project review milestones, including presentations at airworthiness and safety reviews.
  • Conduct specialized studies to understand system integration of installed payloads onboard research aircraft in relation to impacts on flight safety and airworthiness.
  • Plan and conduct independent technical reviews as the system safety and hazard management subject-matter expert.
  • Facilitate discussions to identify, develop and mitigate hazards at Project System Safety Working Groups by applying knowledge of aircraft and aircraft systems.
