Dataminr, a global AI-powered intelligence leader, is seeking a Research Scientist II to join its cutting-edge research team. This position provides a rare opportunity to contribute directly to real-world AI applications that detect critical events worldwide in real time. As part of Dataminr’s AI Innovation team, the selected candidate will research and develop next-generation models across Regenerative AI, Agentic AI, and Multimodal AI, directly shaping groundbreaking products that help governments, corporations, and organizations stay ahead of global risks.

This role is ideal for highly motivated research scientists passionate about advancing AI methodologies in Natural Language Processing (NLP), Large Language Models (LLMs), Machine Learning, and Deep Learning while ensuring these innovations create tangible value for end-users.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct advanced research in AI to solve large-scale, real-world challenges in natural language processing, event detection, and multimodal analysis.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams of engineers, product developers, and domain experts to integrate research outcomes into Dataminr’s global intelligence platform.

  • Contribute to the broader AI research community through top-tier publications (NeurIPS, ACL, EMNLP, IEEE, AAAI, etc.) and conference participation.

  • Design and execute experiments with robust methodologies and metrics.

  • Translate research into production-ready models that directly enhance Dataminr’s products and deliver measurable client value.

  • Senior candidates may lead specific research domains and mentor junior researchers.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science or related discipline.

  • Strong research background in areas such as LLMs, agentic AI, generative AI, cybersecurity applications, summarization, machine translation, knowledge extraction, text classification, or topic detection.

  • Excellent publication record in leading AI/ML conferences and journals.

  • Proficiency in Python with hands-on experience using ML frameworks such as PyTorch, Hugging Face Transformers, and LLM serving tools (vLLM preferred).

  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in fast-paced, research-driven environments.

  • Relevant industry experience or internships in AI/ML development.

Preferred:

  • Experience applying AI in cybersecurity or risk intelligence.

  • Strong experience in scaling ML research into production environments.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary: $148,240 – $218,000 annually ($12,353 – $18,166 monthly).

  • Additional compensation: discretionary bonus + equity grants.
