Asl Driver

Description:

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking a responsible and safety-conscious ASL (Automated Side Loader) Driver to provide waste removal services efficiently and courteously in Conway, SC. The driver will operate fully automated side loading trucks to collect solid waste and recyclables along designated routes. This role requires strong knowledge of truck operation, equipment handling, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate fully automated side loading trucks and ancillary equipment safely and efficiently.

• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, complete daily truck reports, route sheets, and other required documentation.

• Communicate vehicle mechanical problems to supervisor or mechanic promptly.

• Maintain route quality standards as set by management.

• Follow all safety procedures and comply with federal, state, local, and company regulations.

• Keep vehicle clean, both interior and exterior.

• Maintain accurate records of services performed and report as required.

• Work independently with minimal supervision, assisting supervisors to improve routing efficiencies.

• Attend safety and branch meetings and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements / Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED preferred.

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.

• Minimum 2 years of commercial driving experience or completion of CDL school.

• Ability to safely operate the truck and equipment and meet safety-sensitive function criteria.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of truck components and basic maintenance for safe operation.

• Ability to maneuver truck in tight spaces and recognize hazardous waste.

• Strong communication skills with internal and external customers.

• Ability to read, write, and comprehend documents and maps.

• Physical capability to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 50 pounds repeatedly.

• Ability to coordinate limbs while seated or standing and follow safety policies.

Physical / Mental Demands:

• Standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, hearing, climbing, balancing, tasting, and smelling.

• Visual requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

• Ability to lift/move up to 100 pounds occasionally; sitting required 75% of the time.

• Ability to work in loud environments and under varying weather conditions.

Working Conditions:

• Frequent exposure to loud noise, moving mechanical parts, vibration, chemicals, fumes, and airborne particles.

• Occasional work in high or precarious places.

• Continuous exposure to motor vehicle traffic conditions.
