Reeves Construction Company, a subsidiary of Colas USA, is seeking a skilled Asphalt Paving Machine Operator for its operations in Brunswick, Georgia. As an Asphalt Paving Machine Operator, you will be a key part of our paving crew, responsible for operating paving machines with accuracy and safety. This role demands a hands-on individual with sound knowledge of paving procedures, equipment maintenance, and the ability to work in a demanding outdoor environment.

This position is ideal for someone who values safety, teamwork, and operational excellence in a fast-paced, physically demanding construction environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate asphalt paving machines safely and effectively, ensuring correct speed, material flow, and straight line paving.

• Understand and execute all functions of the paving machine, including monitoring material from trucks and maintaining consistent output.

• Take a leadership role when necessary, assisting in guiding the crew and facilitating smooth paving operations.

• Keep the paving machine clean and well-maintained daily to avoid breakdowns and ensure efficiency.

• Work flexible hours including nights and weekends, depending on project demands.

• Follow all safety regulations and practices while operating equipment and working in high-traffic areas.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or GED preferred.

• 1–3 months of experience operating paving equipment or equivalent training/combination of education and experience.

Skills:

• Ability to read and understand safety protocols, operation manuals, and procedural documents.

• Capable of writing basic reports and correspondence related to operations and maintenance.

• Common sense reasoning and ability to follow instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.

• Ability to solve problems involving several variables in a standardized setting.

Physical Demands:

• Frequent climbing on and off machinery multiple times daily.

• Ability to sit for prolonged periods while operating equipment.

• Tolerance to job site vibrations and high-decibel equipment.

• Repetitive motion with arms, hands, and feet is required.

• Ability to manually lift and move up to 60 pounds.

• Strong vision (20/40 corrected or natural) and excellent hearing are essential for safety.

Work Environment:

• Regular exposure to outdoor elements, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations.

• Frequent exposure to fumes, dust, and loud noise.

• Occasional work in wet/humid conditions, high places, or with chemicals.
