Description:
The summer assistant will provide assistance to the program staff members to implement and achieve the program goals and objectives. Provides additional support and supervision to the program participants.
Essential Responsibilities
Instructional Support
- Works closely with program instructors to become familiar with lesson plans to provide assistance during classroom instruction. May work with small groups of students to provide additional instructional support to meet students' academic goals, etc. Provides independent supervision of students.
Student Supervision
- Assist the coordinator and the program instructors to supervise program participants during learning activities and field trips. Provides supervision for non-instructional blocks (before and after school, breaks and lunch).
Preparation and Support
- Assist the program coordinator and the instructors prepare materials and provide clerical support as necessary.
Position Requirements
Minimum Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, counselors, and school administrators.
- Ability to use computer and Microsoft Office software programs.
- Ability and desire to work with students toward accomplishing their educational goals.
- Manage small and large groups of students in and around the classroom.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and school administrators and work collaboratively as a team.
- Organize tasks and manage time to meet many varied deadlines.
