Description:
St. Olaf College is seeking a full-time Assistant Athletic Trainer to join the Department of Athletics – Sports Medicine. This exempt position supports athletic teams with injury prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation, including coverage for football and other sports. The role requires a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and travel with teams.
As a vital member of the Sports Medicine team, you will be responsible for evaluating and documenting medical conditions, administering injury care, and implementing rehabilitation programs tailored to individual athletes. The role also involves working closely with coaches, physicians, support staff, and students to promote health and performance in a collegiate athletic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate and rehabilitate sports injuries and medical conditions across multiple athletic teams, including football.
Deliver on-site care during games and practices, both at home and while traveling.
Develop injury prevention and wellness strategies for student-athletes.
Provide sport-specific accommodations and care protocols.
Ensure compliance with all NCAA, MIAC, and OSHA healthcare documentation standards.
Collaborate with Strength and Conditioning Coaches and external healthcare providers.
Maintain accurate medical records and facilitate timely submission of insurance claims.
Mentor and supervise student workers in the athletic training facility.
Support and contribute to an inclusive and respectful community.
Attend conferences and meetings for continued professional development (e.g., MIAC, NATA).
Assist in hosting MIAC and NCAA events as needed.
Participate in campus emergency care and respond to staffing needs.
Supervision:
Reports to the Director of Athletics.
Supervises student athletic training assistants.
Working Conditions:
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
Must be able to travel with teams for off-campus events.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check and verification of credentials and driving record.
