Five (5) years of management and leadership experience in public health sufficient to plan, organize, and direct human and fiscal resources to achieve full productivity under changing circumstances including experiences in the following areas:
 

  • Direct or manage a statewide, regional, or national public health program including health equity strategies.
  • Articulate programs and policies of the administration to varied clientele both within and outside the department, including experience drafting new policy, procedures, and rules.
  • Apply practical uses of strategic planning and knowledge of the theory and practice of public and business administration.
  • Lead and delegate to effect desired changes within the organization.
  • Lead organizational risk management, auditing and compliance practices and procedures.
  • Plan, organize, direct, implement and explain complex programs and practices. This includes broad knowledge of health and human services issues, delivery systems, funding mechanisms and roles and authorities of federal, state, and local government.
  • Negotiate; resolve conflict; lead strategic, short range and project planning; manage time effectively; assess cost-benefit; perform technical and program evaluation; communicate strategically and effectively, in both written and oral communications; and budgeting.
     

Preferred Qualifications
 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Public Health, Public Administration, Health Care Administration, Public Policy, Epidemiology, Microbiology, Medicine, Nursing, or a closely related public health field
  • Previous executive or leadership experience, managing major health programs and operations, including strategic planning, and directing the work of managers, professional, and technical staff.
  • Experience in evaluating new legislation, policies, procedures, and rules and interpreting them to analyze organizational fiscal and policy impact.
  • Experience responding to media requests, public meetings, orally or in writing and be skilled at-risk communication, with the ability to respond nimbly during interviews, public meetings, and other spontaneous settings.
