The Assistant Director of Business Development (ADBD) is responsible for supporting multiple University of Washington Alumni Association (UWAA) operations connected to business-related revenue generation. This work includes developing and coordinating elements of key community partnerships, sponsorships, and advertising that support the organization’s annual operating revenue.

The ADBD will serve as a key point of contact for the UWAA's strategic partners during the fulfillment stage. They will directly and independently interact with corporate partners to coordinate event sponsorships and activations. The ADBD is a key collaborator with excellent project management skills to support the resource development initiatives of the organization and the department as it functions within the marketing/communications and programmatic engagement spaces. The ADBD reports to the Associate Director of Business Development and works in concert with central partners (UMAC, Learfield, etc.) The Assistant Director coordinates with UA Finance staff as well as works with the UWAA Finance Director to support the resource development team by managing their administrative duties and assignments.

What You Will Do

  • Initiate and manage the sponsorship marketing and promotional schedule to plan and coordinate all partnership efforts and ensure all deadlines, materials, and other requirements are met.
  • Gather required elements (digital logos and other content, signage, promotional items), managing the placement of sponsor media elements (advertising, on-line banners, etc.), coordinating sponsor materials with UW partners, ensuring promotional messages are accurately represented in various marketing channels and capturing fulfillment assets and documentation.
  • Manage the design, proofing, routing, and approval process for all communications and signage with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Advise, support, and proactively communicate with internal stakeholders across UWAA and central marketing (UMAC) regarding sponsorship activation to support creative and growth-oriented program strategies.
  • Plan, develop, and execute sponsorship events, in partnership with UWAA colleagues. Additionally, provide on-site event support for sponsorship activation when needed.
  • Process payments through Advancement F&A and provide support, information, or documentation as necessary to support annual audits or F&A inquiries.

    Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and three years of experience in sponsorship/marketing/sales or related field.
