Assistant Stylist

Description:

Ulta Beauty is looking for a passionate and service-oriented Assistant Stylist to join their Vestal, NY salon. This is a transitional role designed to prepare individuals for full stylist responsibilities. Over the first three months, the Assistant Stylist will shadow an Elite or Master Stylist, focusing on performance, guest service, and salon processes. From month four onwards, the stylist will start independently servicing guests while still receiving ongoing mentorship. The role offers significant opportunities for growth in technical skills, guest engagement, and sales.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide exceptional guest service and support the store’s goals in service and retail sales.

• Assist with shampooing, treatments, blowouts, styling, color applications, and foiling.

• After month three, begin offering independent services including haircuts, color, treatments, makeup applications, and more.

• Drive retail sales through product demonstrations and informed recommendations.

• Help with cleanliness, organization, booking, and overall salon operations.

• Participate in events, marketing initiatives, and professional development activities.

Qualifications:

• Valid cosmetology license.

• Basic understanding or willingness to learn cutting, coloring, styling, treatment, extensions, and makeup services.

• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

• Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

• Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks associated with salon work.
