Assistant Superintendent

Description:

rand* construction corporation is seeking a dynamic Assistant Superintendent to join their Alexandria, VA team. The Assistant Superintendent works in conjunction with the Superintendent to oversee all field staff on a project, ensuring projects are built according to plans and specifications. Responsibilities include supervising carpenters, laborers, and subcontractors, coordinating materials, tools, equipment, and staff, and ensuring all necessary documentation is submitted to the rand* office, including daily reports, time sheets, safety reports, and accident reports.

The role requires monitoring and directing work on-site, scheduling tasks according to the project schedule, and collaborating closely with the Superintendent and Project Manager to ensure smooth project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise field staff, carpenters, laborers, and subcontractors.

• Ensure projects are built according to plans and specifications.

• Coordinate materials, tools, equipment, and staff placement on-site.

• Handle all required documentation, including daily reports, timesheets, and safety records.

• Monitor work progress, direct subcontractors, and schedule tasks according to project requirements.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• High school diploma required; two years of college preferred.

• Minimum 3 years of experience in construction or real estate.

• Ability to read and interpret maps, drawings, prints, schematics, and other instructions.

• Ability to understand and follow oral instructions in English.

• Knowledge and practice of safe work procedures as outlined in the company safety policy handbook.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to speak and/or understand Spanish preferred.

• Proficiency with computers and basic Microsoft Office programs.
