Assistant Video Editor

Description:

Mama Bear Studios, a dynamic production company known for developing and producing feature films, TV shows, and original digital content that explore human experience, is hiring an Assistant Video Editor to support a seasoned director/producer/editor on a diverse set of creative projects. With past work showcased at Sundance, Tribeca, Berlin, and distributed by names like A24, Netflix, and Angel Studios, this is a unique opportunity to work on high-quality professional content.

The role is primarily hybrid (mostly remote) with in-person collaboration in Chattanooga, TN. Strong applicants based outside Chattanooga will also be considered.

What You’ll Be Working On (Summer–Fall 2025):

• A 60-minute documentary for a European nonprofit

• Weekly post-production for the YouTube show JAWBONE

• Production and post for a “masterclass”-style online course

• An early-stage UK-based docu-series

• Short-form documentary and narrative-style commercial projects

Core Responsibilities:

• Ingesting and organizing footage

• Syncing audio and video

• Preparing project timelines for the lead editor

• Creating rough cuts (V1 edits)

• Managing media, timelines, and file delivery

• Implementing detailed feedback from the director/editor

Requirements:

• Experience with editing (professional or amateur)

• Proficiency in one or more of the following: Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro X, Avid

• Availability during weekday hours

• A demo reel or sample work (required for consideration)

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in color correction

• Motion graphics or animation proficiency

• Strong writing skills
