Description:

DataForce by TransPerfect is seeking Freelance Linguists / Audio Data Verifiers who are fluent in English (US) to support a cutting-edge AI speech recognition and generation project. This remote opportunity offers flexible working hours with an expected commitment of 20 hours or more per week, continuing through June.

As a Linguist/Audio Data Verifier, you will contribute to improving the linguistic accuracy and performance of AI-driven speech systems by reviewing, correcting, and enhancing labeled audio data.

Key Responsibilities:

• Listen to short English (US) audio recordings and validate, correct, or expand existing annotations.

• Ensure audio labels accurately reflect speech delivery, voice characteristics, phonetic traits, and nuances.

• Apply your linguistic knowledge to identify and refine errors in pre-labeled data.

• Use internal or web-based tools for annotation and validation tasks.

• Maintain high-quality and consistent annotation standards while working independently.

Requirements:

• Fluent / Native-level proficiency in US English

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Linguistics or a closely related field (e.g., Phonetics, Phonology, Speech Pathology)

• Expertise or coursework in Phonetics / Phonology is strongly preferred

• Experience in data labeling, audio annotation, speech recognition, or text-to-speech projects is a plus

• Familiarity with online annotation or data tagging platforms

• Highly detail-oriented, with strong analytical and listening skills

• Ability to manage tasks independently and meet deadlines

• Must be available to work at least 20 hours per week

• Genuine interest in AI, language technologies, and innovation

Project Duration:

• Engagement through end of June, with flexible weekly hours (minimum 20)
