Automotive Mechanic

Pep Boys is looking for a skilled and motivated Automotive Mechanic to join their team in Hollywood, FL. The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of vehicle systems while providing exceptional customer service. This position requires professionalism, technical expertise, and a strong commitment to safety and quality.

As a key member of the service team, the Automotive Mechanic will not only perform vehicle repairs but also educate customers on required maintenance, collaborate with colleagues, and maintain an organized and clean workspace.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and repair vehicle systems, including brakes, hydraulics, exhaust, basic electrical, cooling, suspension, and alignment.

• Perform routine maintenance services and assist with general service tasks.

• Explain complex mechanical issues and repair needs clearly to customers and non-technical staff.

• Stay updated with new automotive technologies through formal training programs.

• Assist and mentor fellow technicians to maintain a strong, team-oriented environment.

• Report mechanical problems and repair issues to store management promptly.

• Ensure all work areas are clean, organized, and compliant with company safety policies.

• Follow company policies, environmental standards, and safety regulations at all times.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• High School Diploma or GED required.

• Minimum of 6 months of relevant automotive repair and diagnostic experience.

• Valid driver’s license required.

• Section 609 certification preferred (for A/C systems).

• State inspection license preferred (if applicable).

• High level of motivation, energy, and customer-oriented mindset.

• Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check.

• Availability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

• Ability to lift and move items up to 50 pounds independently.

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching overhead.

• Manual dexterity to operate tools safely and efficiently.

• Comfortable working in a physically demanding and fast-paced environment.

• Must be able to climb ladders, enter data on a computer, and operate motor vehicles safely.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Hourly Pay: $19.33 – $31.20 (flat rate based on experience)

• Guaranteed Hours: Up to 20 labor hours per week minimum
