Description:
An Automotive Technician B professionally inspects, diagnoses, and repairs tires and various automotive systems while providing excellent customer service. The role requires explaining technical diagnoses and necessary repairs to both co-workers and customers in understandable terms. The Technician is expected to continuously update skills and knowledge with new automotive technologies and perform work according to specifications. Additionally, they train and mentor other technicians and maintain clean and safe workspaces.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Diagnose and repair brakes, hydraulics, exhaust, basic electrical systems, cooling systems, suspension, and perform alignment and all routine maintenance services.
Perform tasks outlined for Mechanic and General Service Technician roles as needed.
Communicate technical diagnoses and repair requirements clearly to non-technical individuals including customers and employees.
Continuously participate in formal training to keep updated with automotive technology advancements.
Assist fellow technicians and mechanics in technical tasks.
Notify store management promptly about any mechanical repair issues.
Maintain a neat, organized, and safe shop environment.
Follow all company policies, procedures, safety, and environmental regulations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum 1 year of strong automotive mechanical diagnosis, problem-solving, and repair experience.
Preferred certifications: At least 2 ASE certifications (especially A4 Steering and Suspension & A5 Brakes), Section 609 certification, and State Inspection license if applicable.
High motivation, energy, and customer-focused attitude.
Valid driver’s license required.
Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
Flexible availability including days, nights, holidays, and weekends.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
Frequent lifting, carrying, and placing items up to 50 pounds without assistance.
Standing and walking for long periods.
Frequent reaching overhead and below knees; includes squatting, bending, stooping, kneeling, and twisting.
Effective communication in person, by phone, or telecommunications.
Ability to enter and locate information on computers and present information to groups.
Visual verification of small print details.
Safe operation of a motor vehicle.
Pay Range: $22.00 to $34.06 per hour, flat rate based on experience.
