Pep Boys is seeking a highly skilled Automotive Technician A to join their professional service team in Lubbock, TX. This senior-level role is ideal for experienced automotive technicians who excel at diagnosing and repairing advanced vehicle systems, including drivability and electrical issues. The position requires strong technical expertise, leadership qualities, and a passion for mentoring team members while ensuring superior customer satisfaction.
As a lead technician, you will not only perform complex repairs but also interact directly with customers to explain issues and solutions in a clear and professional manner. This is a hands-on, leadership-oriented position within a dynamic, customer-focused environment.
Diagnose and repair advanced vehicle systems, including brakes, hydraulics, exhaust, electrical, fuel ignition, suspension, alignment, air conditioning, and computer systems.
Perform job functions of all lower-level technician roles (Technician B, Mechanic, General Service Technician).
Clearly communicate diagnostic findings and repair needs to customers and team members.
Stay current with new automotive technologies and diagnostic techniques through continuous learning and formal training sessions.
Provide technical assistance and mentorship to fellow technicians and junior staff.
Report mechanical and operational issues to store management promptly.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace in compliance with company policies.
Uphold all environmental, safety, and operational standards as per company guidelines.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in automotive diagnosis and repair.
ASE Certifications: Four or more preferred (A4 Steering & Suspension, A5 Brakes, plus two from A1 Engine Repair, A6 Electrical, A7 HVAC, A8 Engine Performance, or L1 Advanced Engine Performance).
Section 609 certification required.
State Inspection License (if applicable).
Strong leadership, teamwork, and mentoring abilities.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
High motivation, energy, and a customer-first approach.
Valid driver’s license and successful completion of a pre-employment background check required.
Availability to work flexible schedules, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds independently.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching overhead.
Proficiency in operating diagnostic tools and equipment safely.
Must be able to climb ladders, operate a computer, and handle small print information.
Comfortable presenting technical information to small or large groups.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically active environment.
Flat Rate Pay: Competitive, based on experience (specific range not disclosed).
Guaranteed Hours: Up to 32 labor hours per week.
