Bardo Arts Center Lead Technician

 

Description:

 

  • Supervises, operates, and troubleshoots, audio, video, information technology for event production
  • Operates, maintains, and safeguards the technical assets of the performance hall, including supervising the use of lighting, sound, communications equipment, and the use and maintenance of stage facilities
  • Designs, sets up, maintains, and operates audio and video for theatre, dance, music, and other productions and projects
  • Assists guest designers and artists with technical matters
  • Supervises and assists with set and stage management
  • Leads the installation and maintenance of a moderate A/V streaming set-up for classes and simple events
  • Assists in recruiting, training and assignment of volunteer or paid technical staff for individual shows
  • Orients facility users and visiting productions to safety, technical characteristics and other areas of facility operations and facilitates the use of the technical facilities by the resident company and others engaged by or using the facility
  • Supervises a team of student technical staff to assist in the operation of the performance hall
  • Monitors the condition of equipment including lighting, sound, and rigging equipment
  • Arranges for the repair and replacement of equipment within budgetary constraints
  • Performs preventive maintenance on equipment
  • Attends technical week rehearsals, to supervise and assist in the technical aspects of the mounting productions
  • Follows the Performance Hall’s Readiness Plan for disasters and emergencies

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated ability and skill to exercise diplomacy in dealing with others and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
  • Knowledge of contemporary and traditional event production, and presentation techniques for theatrical, dance, musicals, opera, concerts, films, and lectures
  • Working knowledge of techniques and methods of audio, video, and information technology for installation and preparation of theatrical or related performances
  • Ability to design, operate and maintain sound, video, and lighting equipment
  • Knowledge of stage equipment and rigging
  • Demonstrated ability to instruct students in stagecraft and safety protocols
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written format
  • Ability to use a variety of computer applications relevant to the position including Vectorworks, QLab, DAW like Reaper or Avid, and the ability to maintain proficiency in industry standard technology
  • Enthusiasm for working with a culturally diverse workforce and constituency
