Job Description:

Responsible for providing Behavioral Health services to adults, adolescents, children, and/or families throughout the hospital.

  • Provides one to one direct observation and companionship to assigned patients.
  • Observes and reports potential safety risks, provides psychological support to patients, visitors, and families as appropriate.
  • Provides independent or supervised therapeutic interaction in the Behavioral Health and Emergency Department setting and other clinical areas as assigned.
  • Observes and documents patient behaviors in a therapeutic clinical manner, intervening in accordance with training and relaying information to clinical staff as appropriate.
  • Provides direct physical care as needed, including assistance with activities of daily living, behavior management in accordance with training, and collaboration with leadership to determine need for and proper use of physical restraint and seclusion if absolutely indicated.
  • Perform rounding on and visualization of Behavioral Health patients within the acute Emergency Department and other areas as assigned.
  • Uses non-violent intervention techniques; completes and maintains current training in both violent and non-violent restraint application and maintenance.
