Behavioral Health Specialist

As a Behavioral Health Specialist at Richmond Community Hospital, you will play a critical role in supporting patients’ mental and emotional health by providing direct care under the supervision of healthcare professionals. This role is designed for individuals committed to compassion, collaboration, and excellence in patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care including vital sign measurement, hygiene support, mobility assistance, and unit-based specialty duties.

• Act as a liaison between patients and nurses to ensure accurate communication and reporting of changes.

• Complete documentation and maintain patient records in a timely and accurate manner.

• Conduct 15-minute patient checks, rounding, and safety companion services as assigned.

• Assist in patient data collection and screening as applicable.

• Participate in continued education, training, and professional development.

Education Requirements:

• High School Diploma/GED (required)

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (preferred)

Licenses & Certifications (preferred but not required):

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (must obtain prior to direct patient care)

• State Tested Nursing Aide (STNA)

• Certified Nursing Aide (CNA)

• Registered Social Work Assistant (SWA)

• Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA)

• Counselor in Training

• Human Services – Board Certified Practitioner (HS-BCP)

• American Association of Psychiatric Technicians (AAPT)

Desired Experience:

• At least 1 year of prior experience in a mental health or healthcare setting
