Description:
Wildwood Programs is currently hiring a Behavior Intervention Specialist to provide in-home behavior support on a Per Diem basis. This is a hands-on, community-based position working directly with individuals with developmental disabilities, as well as their families and support teams. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting behavioral assessments, developing individualized behavior support plans, and providing training and coaching to families and caregivers to address behaviors that impact daily functioning.
This role is on-site, requiring travel to the individual’s home. The specialist must be comfortable working in varied family and home environments, and must exhibit patience, compassion, and professionalism. The position also includes the opportunity to lead educational workshops for families and community members on behavioral strategies and tools.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform behavioral assessments and create comprehensive functional behavior assessments (FBA) and individualized behavior support plans (BSP) in collaboration with family members.
Train family members and caregivers individually or in groups on positive behavior support strategies, use of social stories, assistive technologies, and intervention tools.
Regularly review and revise behavior support plans based on outcomes and feedback.
Serve as a critical resource and advisor to families in understanding disabilities and best practices for behavioral interventions.
Observe individuals directly as part of the assessment and planning process.
Model and demonstrate behavioral support techniques within the home.
Maintain communication with families, care providers, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure consistency and coordination of behavioral support services.
Requirements:
Education:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, School Psychology, or a related human services field from a regionally accredited institution.
A Master’s degree in a clinical or treatment-related field may substitute for the required experience.
Experience:
At least 3 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and in the field of behavioral intervention.
Experience in behavioral assessment and support plan development is essential.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in word processing, email, and database software.
Familiarity with Apple and Google Suite programs.
Other Requirements:
Valid New York State driver’s license with an acceptable driving record for agency insurance.
Daily access to a personal vehicle and willingness to transport program participants.
