Description:

Square, a part of Block, Inc., is seeking motivated and energetic professionals to join as Business Development Associates within its Sales Development organization. This role is particularly geared towards individuals passionate about sales, business growth, and building relationships with businesses of all sizes.

The Business Development Associate will serve as the first point of contact with potential merchants, engaging them through cold calling, emailing, and social selling to introduce the Square ecosystem. Candidates will work within the Restaurant or Generalist team, identifying challenges faced by businesses and providing tailored solutions through Square’s integrated financial and commerce tools.

Key responsibilities include building and managing a pipeline of prospective businesses, accelerating sales cycles through proactive outreach, and promoting Square’s value in helping merchants grow. Associates will also document, track, and qualify opportunities before passing them to the Account Executive team. The role requires strong communication skills, a solutions-oriented mindset, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

This position serves as an entry point into Square’s sales organization, with clear career progression opportunities. Individuals will have access to ongoing training, mentorship from senior team members, and the chance to level up within the company to increase on-target earnings before promotion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively engage businesses through outbound calling, emailing, and social selling at scale.

  • Promote Square’s solutions by identifying challenges and providing targeted value propositions.

  • Manage and prioritize a diverse sales pipeline to accelerate results.

  • Document and track qualified leads to hand over to Account Executives.

  • Consistently achieve and exceed monthly sales quotas.

  • Demonstrate adaptability, persistence, and enthusiasm in a competitive environment.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • Strong desire to build a career in sales with enthusiasm for cold calling and prospecting.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a convincing personality.

  • Curiosity, team-oriented mindset, energy, and leadership qualities.

  • Ability to work effectively in a high-energy, fast-paced, and evolving environment.

  • Must reside within 50 miles of the posted office location.
