As a Woman Owned Small Business, Kalman & Company is seeking an experienced Business Development (BD) professional that can serve as a strategic architect to align our traditional corporate culture with fresh, new growth approaches. The ideal candidate will connect established networks, business development and capture best practices, and innovative market positioning to our team. This position will oversee Kalman’s opportunity pipelines and business capture efforts while directly interfacing with all proposal efforts. The BD manager will be accountable for achieving sales targets and will be directly responsible for new business development while adhering to and exhibiting Kalman values and ethical standards. This candidate can be located in the Hampton Roads area to attend meetings in Virginia Beach or in Northern Virginia.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of matrixed market and capability leaders through opportunity identification, bid decisions and capture in accordance with our established processes and policies
  • Play a key role in development of corporate growth strategy, business development strategy and market planning
  • Track market-specific opportunities and present prioritized opportunities to management to support bid decisions
  • Evaluate market trends and gather competitive information to identify trends affecting sales and profitability growth and report findings to corporate leadership
  • Plan client / market shaping efforts prior to RFP release, to include engagement with potential customers and market stakeholders to communicate Kalman solutions and value-proposition
  • Support teaming partner management and strategy
  • Assist with proposal management to include win theme development, price-to-win strategies, and color reviews.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • US Citizenship is required
  • Bachelor's Degree and 10+ years of experience leading/supporting business development for Federal Government contractors
  • Proven ability to lead capture for opportunities ranging in value from $10M - $50M
  • Experience with a multitude of contract types and pricing strategies to include Firm Fixed Price (FFP), Cost Plus (CP), and Time & Materials (T&M)
  • Understanding of DoD / Federal markets, trends and competitive environment
  • Success in leading multiple captures simultaneously at various stages of the opportunity lifecycle
  • Current Secret Clearance or eligibility to obtain a security clearance
  • Knowledge of major Federal Government contracts such as Seaport Next Generation (SeaPort-NxG), General Services Administration (GSA) Multiple Award Schedule (MAS), GSA OASIS, etc.
