Business Development Manager

 

Description:

The BDM Defense USA is responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities in the US Defense market, particularly in the Land domain including armored vehicles. The BDM Defense USA maintains close relationships with relevant government agencies, military branches, and defense contractors to help drive business growth, establish partnerships, and win contracts. The BDM Defense USA will maintain a deep understanding of the US defense industry landscape, particularly in the Land domain, and contribute to developing the global business development strategy of Thomas Global Systems.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the defense industry, including identifying potential customers, partners, and markets.
  • Develop and implement business development strategies and plans to meet sales targets.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, military branches, and defense contractors.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive intelligence.
  • Prepare and deliver persuasive sales presentations, proposals, and other marketing materials to potential customers.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including engineering, operations, finance, and legal, to develop competitive solutions and proposals.
  • Attend industry events, trade shows, and conferences to network, build relationships, and stay updated on industry trends.
  • Monitor and analyze sales performance metrics, market trends, and customer feedback to identify areas for improvement and adjust business development strategies accordingly.
  • Participate in contract negotiations and work closely with legal and finance teams to ensure contract compliance and manage risks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or previous relevant military service.
  • Minimum of 5 years of business development experience in the defense industry, specific experience in the Land domain or armored vehicles is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of the defense industry landscape, particularly in the Land domain and armored vehicle market, including knowledge of defense procurement processes, regulations, and policies.
  • Excellent sales, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to identify and pursue new business opportunities specifically in the Land domain and armored vehicle industry.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Salesforce software.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance, if required.
  • Willingness to travel domestically frequently and internationally occasionally.
