Cad Designer

Description:

Hyliion, a pioneer in innovative and clean energy solutions, is hiring an NX CAD Designer for its Austin, TX facility. The company focuses on developing distributed power generators that operate on various fuel sources to future-proof energy systems in a changing global environment. The NX CAD Designer will be a key contributor to the design team and play a crucial role in developing and defining engine components for both customer and internal programs.

This role involves detailed 3D modeling, component definition, and collaborative work with engineers and supply chain teams. The ideal candidate will use their experience in Siemens NX and Teamcenter software to contribute to complex mechanical designs, especially in additive manufacturing and engine component modeling.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create 2D drawings, cross-sections, and 3D models using Siemens NX in a linked model environment

• Define mechanical parts, modules, and assemblies to support manufacturing, inspection, and tooling

• Work with engineering and supply chain teams to determine fits, clearances, tolerances, and dimensional constraints

• Conduct tolerance stack-up studies and design reviews

• Manage multiple concurrent projects and maintain schedule commitments

• Participate in company-wide initiatives for continuous improvement and simplification

• Stay updated with advancements in CAD technology and additive manufacturing

• Collaborate on secured government projects, adhering to special access protocols

• Work within a high-paced environment requiring coordination across engineering and production teams

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

• Associate’s degree in drafting or a related field or 5+ years of experience in a product definition/CAD role

• Experience in Siemens NX/Teamcenter

• Familiarity with additive manufacturing tools (EOSPRINT, Concept Laser WRX, etc.)

• Working knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5)

• Experience with model meshing and mechanical routing

• Experience in NX surfacing is a plus

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

• Hourly, non-exempt position

• Requires standing, sitting, walking, crouching, and lifting up to 25 lbs

• Close visual acuity required for data analysis, inspection, and small parts assembly

• Moderate noise level in work environment

• Tolerance for air travel
