Description:

CGTN America, an award-winning global news network, is seeking a Field Camera Editor based in New York City. This role involves working with multimedia journalists, planning team members, and production staff to gather, produce, and deliver news stories. The Field Camera Editor will focus on news coverage in the New York area and at the United Nations.

Responsibilities:

• Operate cameras to convey images for network broadcasts.

• Correctly position and frame shots while reacting quickly to director requests for live and pre-recorded productions.

• Demonstrate proficient technical skills across multiple operating positions, adhering to high production standards.

• Collaborate on breaking news coverage and last-minute programming changes.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Requirements:

• Knowledge of television production, newsgathering equipment, studio-based production, and post-production techniques.

• Minimum 3 years of professional camera experience (field, studio, and drone).

• Hands-on experience with major digital equipment lines (e.g., Sony).

• Skilled in camera movement, gimbal, slider, tripod work, and setup.

• Strong understanding of shot composition and visual storytelling.

• Excellent physical stamina, organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.

• Ability to work weekends, evenings, and deploy on short notice for breaking news.

• Must have unrestricted work authorization in the U.S.

• Submit reel with resume and references.

Desired Skills:

• College degree in Mass Communications or Journalism preferred.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills; Mandarin skills preferred.

• Knowledge of news broadcasting and live production experience is a plus.

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Broadcasting, Radio/TV/Film, Engineering, or equivalent work experience preferred.
