Cardiac Sonographer

Description:

Mercy Health, a compassionate, faith-based healthcare provider, is seeking a Registered Cardiac Sonographer for its West Hospital location. The role supports Mercy Health’s mission to care for patients in mind, body, and spirit through exceptional cardiac diagnostic services.

This role involves the use of advanced ultrasound imaging techniques to conduct non-invasive and invasive cardiac exams, including Transthoracic Echocardiography, Transesophageal Echocardiography, and Cardiac Stress Testing. The successful candidate will play a critical part in assessing cardiac function, contributing to diagnosis and treatment planning for patients across a broad spectrum of cardiac conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform cardiac imaging using ultrasound to support diagnosis and treatment of heart conditions.

• Conduct transthoracic, transesophageal, and cardiac stress echocardiograms.

• Prepare and monitor patients before, during, and after procedures.

• Document and report findings using EPIC EHR and PACS systems.

• Participate in on-call rotations as required.

• Collaborate with physicians and cardiac teams for accurate diagnostics and patient care.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

• Associates degree in cardiovascular technology, sonography, or a related health science (preferred).

• Credentialing by one of the following is required:

  • RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer – ARDMS)

  • RCS (Registered Cardiac Sonographer – CCI)

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

• At least 1 year of experience in cardiac sonography preferred.

• Familiarity with EPIC and PACS systems is an advantage.

• Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and echocardiographic techniques.

• Excellent interpersonal, critical thinking, and documentation skills.
