Certified Medical Assistant

 

Description:

Texas Health Resources is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join the Women’s Care Clinic in Alliance, Texas. This is a full-time, on-site role with working hours from Monday to Thursday, 8:00am – 5:30pm and Friday 8:00am – 12:00pm (40 hours per week). A sign-on bonus is available for eligible new hires.

The CMA will be an integral part of the clinic’s patient care team, ensuring high-quality service, compassionate care, and efficient clinical operations. This role requires a professional with excellent time management, leadership, and patient-centered communication skills.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver patient care in line with CMA processes, protocols, and standards.

  • Greet and prepare patients for healthcare providers, ensuring accurate intake and comfort.

  • Obtain and record vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration, height, weight, allergies, medications, and presenting concerns).

  • Administer medications and vaccines via oral, injection, rectal, topical, ophthalmic, and inhalant routes.

  • Draw and collect blood samples, prepare specimens for lab testing, and conduct routine tests such as EKGs.

  • Schedule and coordinate diagnostic testing and follow-ups.

  • Document patient plans, test results, and care information in medical records.

  • Communicate test results and care instructions to patients as directed by physicians.

  • Clean, prepare, and sterilize instruments; maintain equipment and supply stock; dispose of contaminated items per protocol.

  • Assist with front office duties as required.

  • Uphold safety protocols, patient confidentiality, and emergency response procedures.

  • Escalate concerns to the practice manager or provider when needed.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)

  • Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification upon hire (required)

  • Basic computer skills with medical management applications

  • Ability to perform EKGs, blood draws, and administer injections

  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and abbreviations

  • Excellent communication, professionalism, and teamwork skills

  • Sound judgment in urgent and emergency situations


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant

  • OB/GYN experience

  • ACLS or BCLS certification

  • NCT – Non-Certified Radiologic Technician training (may be required upon hire)
