Ochsner Health, one of the nation’s leading healthcare systems, is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join its OLGMC 8T Post-Operative Unit in Lafayette, LA on a part-time evening basis. As a CNA in the Post-Operative Unit, you will play a vital role in supporting patient safety and providing essential care under the direct supervision of licensed nurses. This role involves direct patient interaction, maintaining a safe and clean care environment, and ensuring patient well-being during recovery after surgery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with nursing staff to deliver basic patient care in accordance with care plans.

  • Provide constant observation of patients, reporting any changes in behavior or condition promptly.

  • Assist patients with daily living activities while ensuring dignity, respect, and privacy.

  • Maintain a clean and safe environment in patient care areas.

  • Effectively communicate with patients, families, and healthcare teams.

  • Complete accurate documentation of patient-related activities and care.

  • Adapt care delivery methods to suit patient needs across age groups and health conditions.

  • Support multi-disciplinary teams and adhere to hospital policies and procedures.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support overall patient safety and care quality.

Schedule:

  • Part-time evening position.

  • Shift timings: 2:45 PM – 11:15 PM (8-hour shifts) and 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM (12-hour shifts) with rotating weekends.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Required Certifications:

    • Current state-issued CNA certification.

    • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (to be obtained within 30 days of hire).

    • Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification (to be obtained within 30 days of hire).

  • Preferred Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Preferred Experience: Prior hospital and telemetry experience.

  • Skills: Strong organizational and time management abilities, proficiency in computer systems and healthcare software, excellent communication skills, and ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays.

Physical & Environmental Demands:

  • Medium Work: Requires exertion of 20–50 pounds occasionally and 10–25 pounds frequently.

  • Frequent standing, walking, and assisting patients.

  • Routine exposure to blood, body fluids, hazardous medications, and communicable diseases.

  • Requires adherence to safety protocols and protective measures.
