Certified Pharmacy Technician

Description:

Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician (PRN) to join the pharmacy team at The Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. As part of an interdisciplinary patient care team and under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist, the Certified Pharmacy Technician is responsible for a variety of pharmacy services aimed at supporting safe and effective medication use.

The role includes pharmaceutical preparation, inventory management, compliance audits, maintaining pharmacy records, customer interaction, and support in day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of pharmacy protocols and medication handling.

Key Responsibilities:

• Receive and verify prescriptions for accuracy and authenticity

• Maintain compliance with General Pharmaceutical Council guidelines

• Educate patients on proper medication usage

• Assist the Pharmacist with daily operational duties

• Adhere to infection control policies and maintain safe work practices

• Support inventory control and perform financial transactions

• Contribute to pharmacy record-keeping and compliance audits

• Perform other duties as assigned

Education Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED (required)

Licensure/Certification:

• Valid ExCPT Certification from the National Health Career Association OR

• PTCB Certification with registration at the State Board of Pharmacy (required)

Preferred Experience:

• Background in Retail, Ambulatory, Outpatient, Hospital, Acute Care, or Home Infusion Pharmacy

Skills & Abilities:

• Proactive approach in a fast-paced environment

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Sound problem-solving ability

• Knowledge of pharmacy terminology, medication names, and aseptic technique
