Certified Surgical Technologist

Mercy Health is seeking a Cardiothoracic Certified Surgical Technologist to join the surgery teams at St. Elizabeth Boardman and Youngstown Hospitals. This is a full-time, on-site role for dedicated healthcare professionals with a passion for delivering high-quality patient care in a collaborative and compassionate environment.

The Certified Surgical Technologist will serve as the primary scrub technician in cardiothoracic surgical procedures. Responsibilities include preparing and organizing surgical instruments and supplies, maintaining sterile conditions in the operating room, assisting surgeons during procedures by handling instruments and equipment, managing surgical specimens, and monitoring medications and dressings as needed. Surgical Techs must demonstrate deep knowledge of aseptic techniques and surgical protocols.

This position requires either an Associate’s Degree or Vocational Certification in Surgical Technology, along with certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) from an accredited program. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is also required.

While at least one year of perioperative experience is preferred, candidates with military surgical tech training are also encouraged to apply. Mercy Health supports its staff through higher pay scales, sign-on incentives, flexible scheduling, and weekend work differentials.
