Description:
Bayer, a global leader in life sciences with a mission of “Health for all, Hunger for none”, is seeking a Chemical Production Engineer to join its Crop Science division in Luling, Louisiana. This role offers an excellent opportunity to apply chemical engineering knowledge in a high-impact manufacturing environment, supporting operations that improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
The Chemical Production Engineer will work closely with management, operations, and technical professionals to optimize area performance in safety, quality, capacity, and reliability. The position requires strong technical and problem-solving skills, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist management and operations personnel in achieving daily performance goals related to safety, quality, and productivity.
Coordinate production timing and raw material availability with corporate and site planners.
Develop and track key performance indicators for operational excellence.
Participate in investigations of performance issues, proposing and implementing technical solutions.
Represent the area during design, construction, and implementation of investment projects, collaborating with engineers across multiple disciplines.
Maintain and develop operating standards, including SOPs, process descriptions, P&IDs, and energy/material balances.
Execute and analyze plant trials aimed at enhancing performance.
Compile and submit environmental data for compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Provide peer coaching, constructive feedback, and support staff development.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including Site and Area Production System improvements (OnePSS).
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (including May 2026 graduates).
0–3 years of professional experience in chemical or manufacturing environments.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within diverse teams.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Effective communication skills (oral and written).
Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Willingness to work in a plant environment (including climbing stairs and ladders).
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Strong commitment to workplace safety.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior engineering experience in manufacturing or a related field.
Previous Bayer Co-Op experience.
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary range: $65,904 – $98,856 annually ($5,492 – $8,238 monthly).
