Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and accountability for information system activities for all entities of the system; improve IT competencies and overall efficiency.
  • Engage in ongoing communication with the executive team to identify IT products and services that can directly and indirectly improve patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Provide leadership and management for IT related major initiatives which includes developing, maintaining and executing the project plan with key stakeholders, assessing and advising on project risks, leading cross functional teams, managing stakeholder relationships, developing and executing effective organizational communication plan related to the project and evaluating and closing the project.
  • Responsible for Application, Database and Network Management which includes ensuring enterprise information systems operate according to internal standards, industry best practices, external accrediting agency standards and legal requirements, developing and executing effective training programs for applications, managing compliance of application licenses, providing for application enhancements to meet end-user requirements.
  • Establish, implement and monitor the IT Strategy Plan to meet both short and long-range goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures which includes evaluating costs and creating a ROI statement.
  • Partner with executive team and other leaders to ensure that the IT strategy is aligned with the clinical and business strategy.
  • Develop the annual information technology business plan.
  • Educate executive team about current and predicted IT technologies, trends, opportunities, and threats to enhance MLCHC’s ability to plan and prepare for the future.
  • Ensures that IT and network infrastructure adequately support the MLCHC’s IT needs.
  • Responsible for negotiation, management, and service level agreements for IT contracts, including but not limited to the IT Managed Services contract.
  • Maintains positive working relationships with vendors while monitoring and enforcing performance to contract requirements.
  • Provide leadership and operational management of all physical IT infrastructure as well as athenaPractice and other applications.
  • Responsible for IT equipment acquisitions for the organization in conjunction with IT contractors.
  • Keep abreast of evolving clinical and business priorities and goals to ensure MLCHC IT functions are being provided in a manner consistent with industry best practices.
  • Develop and convey a clear vision; give a fresh perspective on innovation.
  • Telemedicine is in its infancy and MLCHC is looking for ways to use it effectively.
  • Develop and enforce policy and procedures to ensure the protection of the MLCHCs’ IT assets and the integrity and privacy of information entrusted to or maintained by the system.
  • Serves as the MLCHC Security Officer and works closely with the Compliance Officer and the Privacy Officer to assure compliance with the HIPAA Privacy Rule and all other rules and regulations. Educate and recommend best practices in all areas of HIPAA and data security which includes conducting annual IT security assessments.
  • Proactively provides leadership to staff to promote a respectful, safe and positive work environment.
  • Actively contributes to the leadership forum to promote exchange of information amongst leaders and departments.
