Description:
The New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) regulates Medallion taxis, for-hire vehicles, commuter vans, and paratransit vehicles, overseeing over 1,000,000 trips daily. The Chief of Support Operations will oversee the day-to-day operations of TLC’s Uniformed Services Bureau (USB) support units: Special Initiatives and Reporting, Central Communications Radio Room, and Calendar Unit. This leadership role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant operations across TLC enforcement activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage, direct, coordinate, and administer USB support units to achieve agency missions and goals.
Determine staffing levels, schedule assignments, and deploy staff efficiently.
Provide professional development, mentoring, and guidance for personnel.
Develop and implement policies, standard operating procedures, and professional standards for support units.
Collaborate with TLC IT Department to improve technology and integrate new equipment into enforcement operations.
Oversee data tracking and reporting of USB activities including arrests, summonses, and inspections.
Monitor and manage radio communications, credential verification, and emergency response coordination.
Ensure proper scheduling and notification of officers for trials and hearings, and track outcomes of legal proceedings.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Deputy Commissioner for USB.
Qualifications:
Four-year high school diploma or equivalent, plus six years of full-time experience in criminal justice or law enforcement.
At least 18 months in an administrative, managerial, executive capacity or supervising enforcement personnel.
Education from an accredited college may substitute for experience (1 year college = 6 months experience, max 4 years).
Master’s degree may substitute for up to 1 additional year of general experience.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience are acceptable, provided administrative/supervisory experience requirement is met.
