City Planner

Description:

The City of Farmington Hills is seeking a City Planner to supervise planning staff engaged in professional, technical, and clerical activities within the planning office. The City Planner works with planning consultants to develop comprehensive plans addressing community needs, compile and analyze data, and evaluate priorities for improvement and development projects.

This role involves preparing recommendations and reports for various boards, commissions, and the City Council, as well as participating in special studies, maintaining records, and preparing reports and graphics. The City Planner contributes to shaping the community’s growth, ensuring organized development, and supporting municipal planning objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise planning staff in professional, technical, and clerical tasks.

• Collaborate with planning consultants to develop comprehensive community plans.

• Compile data and evaluate priorities for improvement and development projects.

• Prepare recommendations, reports, and graphics for boards, commissions, and City Council.

• Participate in special studies and maintain accurate records.

Qualifications:

• Experience in urban planning, municipal planning, or development projects preferred.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

• Ability to prepare detailed reports, recommendations, and graphical presentations.
