Clementi Family Education Fellow

 

Description:

The Clementi Family Education Fellow is a position for emerging professionals who are interested art museum education. They will work closely with FAM colleagues and partners to plan and implement meaningful learning experiences with the community, with an emphasis on students, teachers, and families. This position will prioritize the relationship building and educational rich content connected to FAM’s art collection and exhibitions for visitor centric programming. The Fellow will have a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of their work. FAM, with its small staff size and ambitious programming, embodies a culture of collaboration throughout the organization as outlined in in the FAM Strategic Plan.

The Fellow is responsible for co-creating programs with community partners and implementing learning initiatives such as afterschool, tours, family programs, specialized audiences’ programs, Learning Lounges, the Community Gallery, community public art projects, artist talks, and the Museum Guide program. The Fellow will assist with evaluation and the improvement of programs to ensure they align with community needs and the desired outcomes of the education department. Evening and weekend work will be required to fulfill museum needs.

Essential duties and responsibilities are to assist the education department with the existing programming and interpretation with the intention of then managing selected programs and projects:

  • Support in the planning and implementation of museum educational programs, gallery interpretation, and community partnerships.
  • Utilize exhibitions and museum collections to develop programs and projects for responding to the needs of specific and diverse audiences.
  • Manage communications, promotion, documentation, evaluation, and data collection for museum programs.
  • Collaborate with staff and participates in museum exhibition, programming, operations, and equity meetings and Museum Guide trainings.
  • Research to support the work of the department to ensure practices and resources are current and innovative.
  • Maintain the art studios, supply and equipment inventory, and tracks expenses for programs within budget allocations.
  • Document, evaluates and collect data for all projects and programs.
  • A commitment to furthering equity efforts within the department and the organization.
  • Pursue professional development interactions with the field of art museum educators.
  • Works to develop and implement innovative programs and new projects that align and fulfill the education department and community needs.
  • Helps to make Museum visitors and guests feel welcome

Qualifications:

  • Interest in art, museums, education, and the communities of North Central MA.
  • Understanding of and excitement for FAM’s community-based mission.
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, museum studies, studio or art history, non-profit management; transferable skills in another area of study are welcomed.
  • Experience planning, implementing, and evaluating programs for varied audiences.
  • Experience teaching groups (of children and/or adults) in informal or formal education environments, such as museums, school, or other cultural settings.
  • Teaching with works of art using people-centered, inclusive strategies or knowledge of educational theory.
  • Exceptional email communication, written, presentation, social media, and interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is strongly preferred.
