The Grand Rapids Public Schools is searching for a creative, innovative, and engaging leader to take the district’s storytelling work to the next level. The person who takes on this new role should be experienced in carrying the storytelling process from idea to publication within a short period of time. With a penchant for capturing the moment, the ideal candidate will excel in both video and still photography and have the ability to edit their work into engaging video segments or other digital presentations that highlight the incredible work happening within the Grand Rapids Public Schools every day. The Communications and Visual Content Manager understands the importance of connecting with our audience on multiple platforms. This professional has the interpersonal skills to connect with our scholars and their families as well as the leadership team of our dynamic school district.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Developing and implementing a comprehensive video content strategy that aligns with the school's brand and communication goals.
Creating engaging and compelling video content that highlights the school's achievements, programs, events, and initiatives.
Managing the production process of brand videos, including conceptualization, filming, editing, and post-production.
Collaborating with internal stakeholders, such as teachers, administrators, and scholars, to identify compelling stories and gather video content.
Conducting interviews and capturing footage to showcase the district's success stories and unique offerings.
Maintaining and organizing a library of video assets for future use.
Coordinating video shoots, including scheduling, location scouting, equipment setup, and managing production crews if necessary.
Overseeing the dissemination of video content through various channels, such as the school's website, social media platforms, newsletters, and presentations.
Monitoring video analytics and metrics to measure the effectiveness and impact of video content and making data-driven improvements.
Assisting with overall communications efforts, including managing social media accounts, writing press releases, creating marketing materials, and maintaining consistent branding across various communication channels.
Collaborating with the communications team to develop and execute strategic communication plans and campaigns.
Staying up to date with industry trends, emerging video technologies, and best practices in video storytelling and communications.
Working closely with external vendors or contractors, such as videographers, editors, and graphic designers, to ensure high-quality video production.
Providing training and guidance to staff members or students involved in video production or content creation as needed.
Ensuring compliance with copyright laws, permissions, and licensing agreements for using third-party content in videos.
Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:
Five (5) years of experience in a role related to video, photography, television, public relations, or communications.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Skill in non-linear video editing
Proficiency in high-quality, professional video recording, editing, and story development.
Ability to work under pressure meet deadlines and establish work priorities.
Ability to foster teamwork and work in a diverse team setting.
Ability in writing, editing and creative skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
