Communications Intern

 

Description:

The Oregon Department of Land Conservation and Development (DLCD) is seeking a current or recent graduate student for a Communications Intern opportunity. 

As part of DLCD’s mission, in partnership with community members and local governments, we foster equitable, inclusive, sustainable, and vibrant communities, while protecting our natural resources legacy for current and future generations.

  • Work with the director, policy office and communications manager to draft high level informational pieces for legislative and general audiences.
  • Coordinate with department subject matter experts on content development.
  • Coordinate with staff department-wide to strategically develop DLCD biennial report.
  • Use source documents to distill complex information into short but meaningful communication pieces related to land use planning initiatives.
  • Provide and aid with general office management and other administrative projects.
  • Other duties including website content and management, depending on skill set and expertise.

What We Are Looking For

The preferred candidate will be a strong writer and graphic communicator, have a basic familiarity with the land use system in Oregon and the prominent issues and political dynamics of the state. The ideal candidate will also have experience working with developing collaborative reports. Must be able to meet short deadlines and be flexible and adaptive to shifting priorities in a dynamic environment. Lived or professional experience serving individuals from historically and currently underserved and under-resourced communities. Spanish language fluency desired. Individuals with fluency in other languages are also encouraged to apply.
