He/she will contribute primarily as a member of a team that executes and delivers consulting engagements. Consultants are responsible for assembling, creating, and presenting engagement-specific analysis independently and as a member of project teams. Projects cover the full range of chemical industry including supply/demand market analysis, new project feasibility studies, market entry strategy, acquisition due diligence support, technical assessments, and litigation support. These consulting projects are across commodity, intermediate and specialty chemicals. What's in it for you: As this person gains experience and demonstrates capabilities, they will be eligible for a promotion to Sr. Consultant where they will be asked to start to manage and sell small chemical consulting projects to start gaining experience in selling consulting engagements and one-on-one interaction with clients. Responsibilities: Maintain general knowledge of petrochemical market for interaction with project managers and clients. Maintain a fundamental working knowledge of the basic IHS databases and tools. Capable of independent work to support project delivery. Possess and demonstrate clear communications skills and analytical creativity to determine and develop deliverables that best serve client needs. Expected to have excellent analytical skills to support requirements of projects he/she supports. Expertise in building and using Excel-based models to satisfy unique project requests. Prepare written reports or presentations following IHS standards. Be capable of summarizing project information for clear presentation of results and conclusions to clients. Interface with client as necessary in the presentation of the final results. Support commercial and technology assessments. Understand, use, improve, and develop competitive assessment modeling tools. Actively pursue and develop unique analytical approaches that provide value to IHS’s clients and/or potential clients. Execute or support execution of projects using these tools and other unique analytical approaches. Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of America’s consulting financial and techno-economic models used for financial analysis in support of project feasibility, transaction, and valuation analysis, among others. Support litigation activities including damage and lost profit assessments, document review, and data mining, support expert report and expert testimony preparation and other activities in support of litigation practice. Develop small to midsize project proposals, and assist in developing of larger ones, under the supervision of a Director or Executive Director level project manager. What We're Looking For: Bachelors degree required, BS in chemical engineering or advanced chemistry degree is preferred. MBA desired. In the range of 0 - 3 years of chemical or related industry experience, preferably 1-2 years of consulting experience. Those with manufacturing, technology, planning, and business analysis experience will also be considered. Knowledge, skills and abilities: Excellent analytical and organizational capabilities. Knowledge of chemical industry structure and dynamics. Understanding of business and functional management levers and best practices. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Professional Suite, especially advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills. Ability to interact with client organizations and IHS colleagues at multiple levels and in a variety of locations. Familiarity and comfort with chemical manufacturing and technology management. Critical attitudinal and behavioral traits: Intellectually curious about new industries, management topics, and client issues. Thrive on diversity, i.e., the ability to work outside a defined comfort zone. Team oriented, not a sole practitioner, but also be able to work independently when needed. Requirements: Must be located in or willing to move to Houston. Must be willing to travel (Including international travel), although travel is typically minimal for this position. US citizen or permanent resident. Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only): S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $49,400 to $98,200 . Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.
