Control System Engineer

Description:

DRS IT Solutions Inc is seeking a highly motivated Control System Engineer to join its dynamic team in San Diego County, CA. This role is ideal for an engineer with a strong foundation in control systems, feedback control, and optimization, and a desire to work in a fast-paced, agile environment. The position offers exposure to advanced engineering fields including aerospace, robotics, defense, automotive, HVAC, and semiconductor industries.

The selected candidate will play a critical role in validating and documenting test results related to algorithm performance, while also creating and maintaining operational procedures that support software feature rollouts. Collaboration with other control engineers and software teams will be central to the success of this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Validate and document test results for implemented control algorithms, ensuring performance and functionality.

• Develop and maintain automation and operational procedures in support of new software features.

• Collaborate with a cross-functional team of control and software engineers to generate debugging and operational procedures for field deployment.

• Support field rollouts by ensuring clear and accurate documentation of processes and performance outcomes.

• Contribute to continuous improvement of control systems, ensuring reliability and robustness across multiple applications.

Must-Have Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Aerospace, or Robotics Engineering, with a specialization in Controls.

• 1–3 years of hands-on experience with MATLAB, specifically focused on feedback control or optimization (not automation control).

• Strong communication skills, with a proven ability to work independently, take initiative, and deliver high-quality results.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in creating, modifying, or maintaining procedures for supporting software features.

• Professional exposure to complex industries such as automotive, aerospace, robotics, defense, HVAC, or semiconductor.

• Background in agile development environments with cross-functional collaboration.
