Description:
NaphCare, Inc., a leading provider of healthcare services to correctional facilities across the U.S., is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join its medical team on the night shift in Jacksonville, FL, at the Jacksonville Pre-Trial Detention Facility. This is a challenging yet rewarding opportunity to make a difference by providing essential healthcare to a diverse population with complex medical needs within a secure correctional environment.
In this role, you will collaborate with correctional officers and medical staff to deliver direct patient care, assess, diagnose, and treat a wide range of conditions, manage chronic illnesses, prescribe medications, respond to medical emergencies, and provide education on preventative healthcare. This position requires adherence to strict security protocols while ensuring the rights, dignity, and health of patients are maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct physical exams, develop treatment plans, and monitor patient progress.
Manage acute and chronic conditions including hypertension, diabetes, and asthma.
Prescribe and administer medications, while providing patient education.
Monitor, document, and maintain accurate patient medical records.
Triage and assess patient needs, develop and coordinate care plans.
Respond promptly to medical emergencies, provide first aid, and arrange transfers to external facilities when needed.
Educate patients on preventive care, healthy lifestyles, and substance abuse prevention.
Perform rounds, evaluate patients returning from off-site treatments, and handle admissions/discharges.
Maintain compliance with correctional facility safety and healthcare regulations.
Qualifications:
Master’s or Doctorate in Nursing; unrestricted state NP license.
Current DEA registration and active CPR certification.
Board certification recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties.
Strong knowledge of nursing practice standards, occupational health, and infectious disease management.
Ability to multitask effectively, work independently, and as part of a team.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to meet physical requirements, including lifting up to 50 pounds and performing CPR.
Experience in correctional or acute care settings preferred.
Must pass background check and drug screening.
