The anticipated salary range for this role is between $150,000.00 and $200,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

The Analyst/Associate Credit Management is responsible for: (i) periodic credit monitoring and grading of clients and deals within the portfolio; (ii) processing amendments and waivers; (iii) tracking industry trends; (iv) presenting to credit and senior management; (v) use various bank credit monitoring and approval systems; and (vi) working closely with the deal team for the ongoing day-to-day monitoring of the portfolio, as well as line renewals, etc.

Role Objectives
 

• Manage the assigned portfolio or clients on a day-to-day basis
• Ensure that the periodic credit reviews are completed on a timely basis as per policy and within agreed deadlines
• Review and improve the quality of all credit documents that are submitted to SMBC's Credit department
• Verify that credit applications meet the requirements and standards required by policies and regulators
• Work closely with all stakeholders including credit officers and the front office bankers
• Oversee the management of a portfolio of accounts (complete periodic credit reviews, anticipate credit issues, define credit triggers, respond to requests from internal and external stakeholders, process waivers and amendments, credit alarms, etc.)
• Perform other portfolio management functions such as watchlist monitoring, monthly portfolio presentations, track grading changes, attend quarterly calls and client meetings, maintain portfolio tracking spread sheets, as well as submission of environmental reviews
   

Qualifications And Skills
 

• Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese (reading and writing skills) is preferred
• 2 to 4+ years in a previous role with experience in the above job function/role.
• Excel and projection modeling skills strongly required
• Strong analytical credit skills
• Strong writing skills
• Good ability to communicate
• Attention to detail
• Work well in a team environment with a can do attitude
