Description:
The Customs Specialist is responsible for transactions with U.S. Customs (CBP) concerning the entry and admissibility of merchandise. This includes conducting effective research, communicating with the client and/ or CBP, managing Customs entries, monitoring clearance, and recordkeeping.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Review of Customs documents to be filed with CBP ensuring accuracy.
- Verify classification and valuation with the importer when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with customs regulations.
- Obtain the appropriate documents required to support claims or disclaims.
- Ensure the proper and timely payment of duties, taxes, or other charges assessed or collected by CBP on merchandise by reason of its importation.
- Maintain documents required under 19 CFR 163.
- Monitor and track customs clearances and resolve any delays or issues.
- Coordinate with internal teams, clients, customs brokers, and government agencies to resolve customs-related issues.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date knowledge of customs regulations and procedures.
- Attend provided trainings.
- Support the development and implementation of customs compliance procedures and policies.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in Customs brokerage.
Preferred Qualifications
- U.S. Customs Brokerage License
- Certification in customs compliance or a related area.
- Experience working with a variety of industries and commodities.
