Minimum 1+ years Deaf & Hard of Hearing Specialist experience required.

A part-time Teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) support is needed to provide direct instruction and support for two K-12 students. This position follows the school calendar with a contract duration for the next school year.

Location: Streator, Illinois

Schedule: Approximately 3.1 hours per week, distributed as 40 minutes Monday through Thursday and 30 minutes on Friday (total 190 minutes weekly)

Role: Provide specialized education and communication support tailored to the needs of two students with hearing impairments in a K-12 school setting

Key Responsibilities
 

  • Deliver individualized instruction and interventions for DHH students to support their academic progress and communication skills
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to develop and implement appropriate accommodations and modifications
  • Monitor and document student growth, adapting strategies as needed to meet student needs
  • Assist in the use of assistive technology and communication devices that enhance learning for DHH students
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable educational standards and individualized education program (IEP) requirements
     

Desired Qualifications And Experience
 

  • Certification or licensure in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education or related special education fields
  • Experience working with K-12 students who have hearing impairments
  • Skilled in voice, visual, and sign communication methods appropriate to student needs
  • Strong collaborative and communication skills with both students and educational teams
