Department Manager

Description:

Site One Landscape Supply, the largest national distributor of landscaping products in the U.S. and Canada, is seeking a Department Manager - Irrigation to serve as the branch’s irrigation expert. The role involves leading the irrigation department, assisting the Branch Manager with operations and sales planning, and supporting staff development to achieve departmental goals. The position requires creating a positive, safe, and productive environment while ensuring exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist Branch Manager with sales and operations planning, demand forecasting, and integration of supply and demand plans.

• Promote a safety-first environment and lead by example, emphasizing workplace safety and compliance.

• Implement inventory management principles, understand target customer mix, and drive departmental sales.

• Train and develop agronomic staff on irrigation products and customer needs to support achievement of sales goals.

• Partner with branch leadership to adopt new technologies and enhance business performance.

• Support other departments and customers as needed to ensure overall branch success.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• 1-3 years of experience in the green industry with understanding of irrigation products (preferred).

• Excellent customer service and management skills.

• Experience in sales and operations planning and forecasting.

• Understanding of accounting fundamentals, including debits, credits, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and budgets.

• Willingness to learn new technologies and ways of working.

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

• For internal candidates: Line of Business (LOB) Certification Level I or higher (preferred).
