Frontgrade Technologies, a leader in high-reliability and radiation-assured solutions for defense, space, intelligence, commercial, and civil applications, is hiring a Digital Hardware Engineer II to join its team in Huntsville, AL. With a 60+ year legacy, Frontgrade is known for delivering mission-critical products designed for the harshest environments, supporting applications from human spaceflight and space exploration to missile defense, electronic warfare, and advanced healthcare technology.

The Digital Hardware Engineer II will be responsible for formulating design concepts, developing hardware for space-grade and high-reliability modules, and ensuring integration with firmware, software, and manufacturing teams. The role also includes leading hardware bring-up, resolving technical issues, and producing detailed documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and design space-grade and high-reliability hardware modules, including schematic capture, design constraints, and layout oversight.

  • Select components, optimize designs for performance, cost, and reliability.

  • Lead hardware bring-up, debugging, and testing to meet requirements.

  • Collaborate closely with embedded software, firmware, and manufacturing teams to ensure successful integration.

  • Document designs, testing protocols, and system specifications.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware challenges during both development and post-production phases.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with at least 2 years of experience.

  • Alternatively, 6 years of experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.

  • Master’s degree accepted with no experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Design experience with ARM or Intel microprocessors.

  • Proficiency in Siemens DXDesigner or Altium Designer for schematic capture.

  • Strong background in high-speed interface design (PCIe Gen 3/4, 10GbE–100GbE, DDR4).

  • Expertise in high current/low voltage switching power supply design.

  • Experience integrating hardware with FPGA, firmware, and software systems.

  • Proficiency in Hyperlynx SI/PI and high-reliability/radiation-hardened design.

  • Excellent teamwork, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary: $80000 – $100000 annually ($6666 – $8333 per month).

Additional Information:
