We are seeking Digital Product Manager Consultants (DPMC) with a business savvy, technical, innovative, problem solving mind set! As a DPMC this individual will be trained and certified in General Motor's Digital Product Management methodology. Combining their knowledge and experience with training in Digital Product Management the DPMC will train, coach, and mentor others at GM on how to apply Product Management methods to improve the way GM designs, builds, tests, and deploys digital products. The DPMC will host workshops, facilitate discussions, help Agile teams plan incrementally, and iterate their plans, leading by example as GM transforms to this new framework.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitate the learning and adoption of Product Management methods and practices by individuals and teams as they gain insights and experience with Product Management concepts.
  • Conducts training needs assessments to understand characteristics and skill level of learners, the job setting, and to identify the processes and tasks performed by system users.
  • Determines appropriate instructional strategy based on results of needs assessment. Develops in-house training where needed.
  • Designs new or modifies existing instructional materials for multiple training modalities including traditional instructor-led classes, web-based/virtual classes, and job-aids
    REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3 or more years' experience in a Product Management or Product Owner role
  • Possesses continuous-learning mindset and willingness to deliver ad hoc training
  • Self-regulated, able to work with multiple personality types to keep teams focused on delivery, while remaining neutral under pressure

  • Knowledge of and experience with the application of Product Management values, principles, and practices.
  • Excellent track record of working with applying Product Management collaboration tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; clear, tactful, and constructive
  • Effective presentation, interpersonal and classroom management skills.
  • Strong time management skills with flexibility, versatility, dependability

  • Must be highly organized. Ability to prioritize and complete tasks with a keen attention to detail
  • Ability to create and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders throughout the enterprise.

  • DESIRED SKILLS
  • Experience in instructing or delivering Product Management coaching, courses and workshops and coaching people across teams

  • Knowledgeable of Azure DevOps/TFS and the concept of agile work management standards preferred.
  • Lean, Agile, or Six Sigma certifications.
  • SAFe certified or other scaled agile frameworks.
  • Experience working on large-scale transformation programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence change at the leadership level and team level.
  • Conducts traditional classroom or web-based training sessions, using effective presentation skills, verbal communication skills, and classroom management skills.
  • Assesses training outcomes by soliciting and reviewing feedback and evaluation of classes taught.
  • Manages content of centralized artifacts associated with Product Management training, maturity, and adoption metrics as well as readiness activity tracking and launches.
