Description:
The NYS Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) is seeking Direct Support Assistants to provide hands-on care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities. The role ensures that clients lead safe, meaningful, and enriched lives, promoting personal choice, community integration, and daily skill development.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing personal care, including hygiene, toileting, dining, dressing, and transfers.
Assisting with meal preparation and participation in recreational and daily living activities.
Advocating for and guiding individuals to express personal choices.
Supporting community integration and social activities.
Following and documenting care plans in collaboration with other staff members.
Administering medication as instructed.
Maintaining a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for clients.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma, GED, or Direct Support Professional (DSP) Certificate.
Valid New York State driver’s license (must maintain throughout employment).
Must meet physical and agility standards required for the role.
