Trans Up Front Illinois (TUFIL) is a grassroots nonprofit organization committed to uplifting and advocating for trans and gender non-conforming (TGNC) individuals aged 4–25 and their families across Illinois. Centering trans voices, TUFIL provides direct advocacy in education, healthcare, employment, and organizational environments. The organization leads public education, legislative advising, community organizing, and support initiatives aimed at empowering trans youth and their support systems.

TUFIL is currently seeking a Director of Community Outreach to join its Board of Directors. This is a pivotal volunteer leadership role responsible for building and maintaining community partnerships, increasing visibility, and supporting fundraising efforts to amplify the organization’s mission.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and sustain partnerships with community allies, supporters, and organizations across Illinois.

• Represent TUFIL at events, meetings, and outreach activities (remote and/or in-person).

• Collaborate on community-building and fundraising initiatives.

• Design and execute outreach strategies to raise awareness and expand TUFIL’s reach.

• Actively advocate for trans youth and share resources within your networks.

• Support organizational goals through strategic networking and engagement.

Ideal Candidate:

• Identifies as a member of the TGNC+ community.

• Deeply passionate about advancing rights and empowerment for trans and gender non-conforming youth.

• Possesses strong communication and relationship-building skills.

• Experience in outreach, nonprofit work, or advocacy is a plus but not required.

• Committed to equity, inclusion, and intersectionality in practice.

Time Commitment:
8–10 hours per month, including participation in board meetings and community activities.
